Welcome to Our Region
Our region of 'Natural Adventures' is brimming with natural attractions and spectacular scenery. Follow the Murray River from the High Country to the famous wine producing area of Rutherglen. Or take a trip back into our colonial past and explore the old gold mining and bushranger area of Beechworth and surrounds.
The region is also widely renowned for its outdoor recreation opportunities, from Albury-Wodonga's first-class sporting facilities to some of the best freshwater fishing in Victoria in the surrounding rivers. The popular water sports destination of Lake Hume is also nearby. Locals take their time to discover the many different local museums and art galleries - and to enjoy the fine wines, gourmet foods and local produce on offer.
The gateway (from the north) to the Alpine region of Victoria, Albury-Wodonga hugs the Murray River in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Within 100 km of Albury-Wodonga, the diverse terrain ranges from snow-capped mountains and cool high river valleys to flat, featureless cropping and pasture lands stretching from horizon to horizon.
Come and visit our region, from the twin city hub of Albury Wodonga to the towns and villages of Beechworth, Bethanga, Bright, Chiltern, Corowa, Corryong, Culcairn, El Dorado, Granya, Holbrook, Howlong, Jindera, Jingellic, Khancoban, Mitta Mitta, Myrtleford, Rutherglen, Tallangatta, Tintaldra, Towong, Tumbarumba, Wangaratta and Yackandandah.
The Twin Cities Abury-Wodonga
Located on the border of Victoria and New South Wales, and divided by the Murray River, the twin cities of Albury-Wodonga have successfully combined the attributes of a modern city with the leisurely style of a regional setting. Once a busy trade route for paddle steamers, the river is now very much a part of Albury-Wodonga's relaxed and attractive lifestyle.
