The Jewel in the Crown
Albury's historic Botanic Gardens are located in Wodonga Place only a few minutes walk from the heart of central Albury.
The first trees (Elm Avenue) were planted in 1877 and the tallest tree is a Queensland Kauri Pine, reaching a towering 41 metres.
Sweeping lawns, shady trees and the tranquil atmosphere make the gardens a pleasant setting for a family picnic, a leisurely stroll or a perfect location for a wedding.
Friends Group
The Friends of the Albury Botanic Gardens were formed in 1997 to enjoy and promote the Gardens. The Friends meet on the first Sunday of the month, in the Botanic Gardens, at 2.00pm.
Education Programs
Programs and activities for all ages are available. We can match curricula to many activities, provide fun and enjoyment for children, and provide assistance with conservation and landcare programs.
Advice
Assistance and information is available for landcare and horticultural groups, the home gardener, and any other interested parties, from the Gardens Office. Information networking through contacts in Australia, together with other Botanic Gardens and Conservation Groups worldwide is also available.
Events
Weddings, Christenings, family gatherings, band performances, Picnic in the Park and Senior Citizens Week are just some of the many activities that are held in the Gardens throughout the year.
Spring Festival
The Friends of the Albury Botanic Gardens hold a Spring Festival (usually in October) in the Botanic Gardens. Local horticultural groups display their plants and the Friends Growing Group hold a plant sale. Afternoon teas and refreshments are available. A great day for families and horticultural enthusiasts alike.
