The Snowy Valleys Way is an exciting project, with 5 Shires across 2 States cooperating to achieve a single tourism aim: a high-quality tourism experience that attracts more people to the region and leaves them feeling glad they came and wanting to come back to experience even more.
The NSW Shires of Gundagai, Tumut and Tumbarumba have joined forces with the Victorian Shires of Towong and Indigo to provide an alternate touring route to the Hume Highway.
The route, the Snowy Valleys Way, has Gundagai's world-famous Dog On The Tuckerbox at its northern end, and the historic precinct of Beechworth and the vineyards of Rutherglen at its southern end.
The Snowy Valleys Way Project Management Team recognises that tourists have no boundaries, and so neither do we - no Shire boundaries, no State boundaries, just one continuous Snowy Valleys experience.
This 5-Shire initiative has received $675,000.00 in funding, half of which came from AusIndustry's Australian Tourism Development Program, with the balance coming from the five participating Shires.
This project is generating a lot of interest as NSW and Victoria cooperate on a major regional tourism project.
The Snowy Valleys Way Project Management Team are committed to providing a touring route that is easily usable. This means new, accurate touring maps, good signage throughout the five Shires, and clearly defined start and end points.
